For the uninitiated the vista that is presented here will snow-clad mountains, soaring peaks, rugged landscape and much more in the serene backdrop of the mighty Himalayas. The dangerous route your taking will have the sounds of only your roaring bikes. You need to keep your spirits high and there won’t be any dearth of good vibes.
You can pick either the Srinagar to Leh route or the Manali to Leh route whichever is convenient to you. The thrill on both the routes is the same. Of course you get to see different towns and villages on the route. The best time of the year is May to September. It is advisable not to flout this rule for your own safety sake.
You can take your own bike for this trip and if not you can rent one. Usually the bikes that withstand high speed are recommended and also only these are rented. These can be the RoyalEnfield, BajajPulsar, KTM Duke, CBR 250 among others. You may need consent letter from your parents if you are under 25 and you are renting a bike. Also you have to produce your id proof with paying of a security deposit at the start of the Leh Ladakh bike trip.
On the Srinagar Leh trip you will be passing through Kargil, Leh, Karu, Sarchu to Manali. If you start at Manali, you pass through, Sarchu, Leh, Khardun La, Nubra Valley, Kargil, Srinagar. You need to bear the fuel costs, accommodation, food and any other costs during this journey that may comprise of about 15 days, apart from your travel fare to and fro to Delhi from your hometown.
There are a few restaurants and dhabas on the way. You can choose to eat at the places of your choice here. The best way is also to travel light but not miss on the necessities.
